I did not write this but I will quote the announcement appearing in Highroads magazine
“Critical Eye on Navajo Art, Prescott. Join internationally respected art appraiser Corinne Cain as she discusses artists and artwork featured in the Phippen Museum’s exhibit, “Through Navajo Eyes.” Phippen Museum, 4701 U.S. Highway 89N, 928-778-1385″
Showtime is 1 pm on Saturday January 12.
Primary focus will be an extensive exhibit representing five plus decades of collecting Navajo paintings, pottery and baskets by Jan Musial, an Arizona resident.
The exhibit will be on view until 17 February 2013. There is a well written, modest catalogue with text written by Linda Stedman available for purchase at the museum.
You won’t find more significant Navajo paintings in larger museums, so I really do encourage art lovers to visit this exhibit! Quincy Tahoma’s painting titled Summer Tourist created in 1947 is a personal favorite !
