Moran Indian SummerAdmire the majestic Thomas Moran painting titled Indian Summer and know that sometimes $3.5 to $5.5 million can buy visual ecstacy!

Yes, we know that lofty-priced Remington paintings, likewise require deep pockets as do Taos pictures.

Having previewed this afternoon, there are some less costly beauties such as Lot 76 Pueblo Gathering by James Sessions, a watercolor estimated between $3,000 and $5,000.  Another cost notch higher was Lot #323 Coming of Spring by Emile Gruppe, estimated to bring $15,000 to $25,000.

Actually there is a wide swath of estimates in this auction ranging from $400 to $5.5 million.

Interestingly, women artists make up about 3% of the artists being auctioned by gender.
