(Born 1946) Originally from Regensburg, Germany, Tilger earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing from Northern Illinois University (1970) followed by her MFA in Painting and Drawing from Southern Illinois University (1975).
Tilger has taken part in numerous invitational exhibitions in Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Mexico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Indiana. Her solo exhibitions were staged at the Elaine Horwitch Galleries, at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts and at Arizona State University.
Teaching more recently in California for the last 16 years, this artist is about to restart her art-making career.
One reviewer of Tilger's work presented at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts wrote "Tilger's work is full of implied and exposed histories and secrets that she has revealed through tranformed objects. There is a delicate balance in these works between abstract calligraphy and highly rendered, unrecognizable objects."
Clearly Tilger is about texture, visual and actual as well as a fascination with obscure aged-fragments newly fashioned through her art.
