About the Artist

Doug Oliver was born in 1942 in Dayton, Ohio,where he lived until age twelve. His family then moved to California and at the early age he began painting landscapes of the dramatic views. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles (now known as California Institute of the Arts) and later a Master of Arts degree from the University of Redlands, California. He taught art at the high school and community college level from 1966 to 1981 in Lancaster, California. After raising two sons he and his wife, Barbara relocated to Prescott, Arizona. where they built a home and studio on a hilltop overlooking the Prescott National Forest. Best known for southwest landscapes and skyscapes. Doug Oliver has been featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West magazine publications.
