(Born 1928) Acoma/ Laguna from the Turkey Clan, Sarah Garcia is associated with traditional forms and decoration, at times employing designs associated with Mimbres, Anasazi and Tularosa ware.
Listed in the Schaaf book as one of the most prolific potters in the history of Acoma along with Jessie Garcia, Lucy Lewis and Marie Z. Chino, Sarah has produced a wide variety of shapes. A generous allocation of 1/2 page is devoted to her pottery in the book Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Biographies by Schaaf.
Sarah Garcia's pottery is characterized by extremely thin walls and decoration that is entirely responsive to the vessel's contour.
