(1774-1822) John Thurston was an English wood engraver and illustrator. Known primarily for his book illustrations, he also painted in watercolors. He began his artistic career as a copper plate engraver, working for James Heath.
His illustrations include those for James Thomson's Seasons and William Somervile's Rural Sports, as well as Shakespeare's works. He occasionally exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1794 to 1812.
Thurston's work is included in the British Museum's Department of Prints and Drawings and at the Nottingham's Castle Museum and Art Gallery.
