About the Artist

Active from the 1930's forward, Bitsui (also Bitsuie) was known for silver stampwork on her beads. The step-daughter of Charlie Bitsui, her work was in the C.G. Wallace collection.

Maggie is referenced in Gregory Schaaf's book American Indian Jewelry I 1,200 Artist Biographies.

Maggie lives in her work, as she made wonderful beads with which jewelers strung their squash blossom necklaces.  She was still coming into the White Hogan, with treasures she had made until the late 1970's.
