(1933-2009) Jim Jones was a Utah artist who was educated at the Art Center Los Angeles, University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Utah (1961).
Best known for his paintings of Zion and the Grand Canyon, Jones also painted portraits and figures, spending his winters in Mexico. He depicted local scenes in Mexico. Reportedly he produced over 400 paintings of Zion and over 100 canvases of the Grand Canyon. Fourteen large paintings were donated by Jim to Southern Utah University in Cedar City.
He held a solo exhibition at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery in Southern Utah University in 2009. His work was also exhibited at Zions Bank and the O.C. Tanner building in Salt Lake City.
Jones last exhibit at the Worthington Gallery in Sprindale, Utah sold out entirely, just after his passing.
