(Born 1953) Born at the Akwesasne Reservation, near Rooseveltown, New York, Alex Jacobs completed an Associates degree in Fine Arts (sculpture and creative writing) at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1977 at Santa Fe, New Mexico and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (sculpture and creative writing) at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1979.
He is an instructor at the University of New Mexico since 1991 and has been editor of a number of journals.
His mediums are mixed media, fabric paintings, poetry, writing and performing. He won a 1st Place award in the Multi Media category at the Eiteljorg Museum Indian Art Market in 2001. In 1995 he was awarded the New York Foundation on the Arts Poetry Fellowship Award.
