About the Artist

(1937-1997) Cited as a painter of Native American portraits, Howell was born in Colorado. He was educated at the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Art. For eleven years he taught in high school and in college. He is listed in Contemporary Western Artists by Peggy and Harold Samuels and his work has been reviewed in Artists of the Rockies. Southwest Art and Art Voices/ South magazines. There was a gallery in Santa Fe that was the Frank Howell Gallery.
