About the Artist

(Born 1952) This Santa Fe artist shares both Native American and Hispanic heritages. Wells is known for portraits of American Indian warriors and children, often depicting her subject with glowing "yellow eyes" signifying traditional respect for the "Holiness of the Earth and animals".

She is also a poet that relates nicely to her paintings. She studied art at UCLA and at Eastern College in Billings, Montana.
