About the Artist

(1769-1844) This British painter was known for portraits, landscapes as well as his sensitive depiction of animals. A pupil of John Alexander Gresse, Hills enrolled at the Royal Academy School in London in 1788.

Robert Hills was one of founders of the Society of Painters in Watercolours, where between 1791 and 1844, he exhibited 600 works.
