About the Artist

(Flower Girl) (1915-1981) was a highly inventive potter who is responsible for making punctate design popular during her era of pottery making (1946-1981). Triangular indentations were a common design found on her pieces.

The Museum of Northern Arizona is proud to include many of her bowls, jars and ladles in their collection, as does the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. The Heard also holds two of the artist's canteens and a wedding vase. During her lifetime she entered over 400 pieces of pottery for judging in the Museum of Northern Arizona's Hopi Artist Exhibition winning an amazing total of 139 ribbons.

Nearly two pages cover this artist in Gregory Schaaf's book Hopi-Tewa Pottery 500 Artist Biographies.
