(Born 1948) Salvador Gonzales Escalona is a Cuban painter, muralist and sculptor. He signs his work simply "Salvador". According to Wikipedia, his work is known as "afro-cuban style, embracing surrealism, cubism and abstraction."
Salvador's first art exhibition took place in 1968 in the Museo de Artes Decorativas in Havana. He has since had exhibitions in several foreign countries to include Italy, Norway, Denmark, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States and in Spain.
The mural he started in 1990 in Callejon de Hamel made a large impact. A film was subsequently made about the development of this mural located in the Cayo Hueso neighborhood of the Cuban capital. Salvador has also created murals eight additional countries.
