(Born 1945) A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California, Ken earned his BFA there in 1968. Becoming a free-lance illustrator for Motor Trend Magazine, Universal Studios, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Air Force Documentary Art Program, he later accepted an invitation to be Artist Instructor in Residence as the University of South Dakota at Vermilion.
Fond of observing the flora and fauna of the northwestern portion of the U.S., especially in Wyoming and Montana, he would return to his studio in Sedona to create his artwork. Both a sculptor and a painter, in recent years he has focused on creating sculptural jewelry as well.
He has been featured in Connoisseur magazine, The Robb Report, Southwest Art, Decor Magazine, Sedona Magazine and Artists of the Rockies and Golden West. Ottinger is currently a member of the Society of American Historical Artists.
