(1878-1966) Lionel Edwards was born in Bristol, England. He became known as one of the most popular illustrators of hunting and sporting subjects of the 20th century. From the age of six he had been actively drawing horses, causing his mother to encourage her son to pursue the arts.
Lionel studied in London at Heatherly's School of Art. This ardent hunter combined his superior drafting skills with his passion for horses and the hounds.
