About the Artist
(Born 1958) Carol Lucero Gachupin learned to fashion storytellers from Marie Romero. She digs her own clay in the vicinity of Jemez Pueblo and makes her own natural paints. Her storytellers are characterized by being wrapped in a textile or they are made with a flared skirt. She is careful to sign her work "Lucero Gachupin" followed by a kiva step symbol incised into the clay. Carol received a 2nd Place aware at the 2000 New Mexico State Fair. She is named in the publication Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Artist Biographies.
