About the Artist
(Born 1942, Pala Mission/ Cherokee) Lawrence C. Golsh attended Arizona State University, but was taught about jewelry making from Manfred Susunkewa, Pierre Tourraine, Lloyd Kiva New and Paolo Soleri. Larry's jewelry employs gold, silver, coral, natural turquoise, sugilite, ivory, opal, peridot and tanzanite.
Golsh's tufa cast and set natural turquoise bracelets grace the cover of the April 1976 issue of American Indian Art Magazine. His work has also been published in Art in America, New Mexico Magazine and Arizona Highways.
He attended Arizona State University studying engineering, architecture, getting his degree in art with an emphasis in sculpture. From 1968 to 1972 he apprenticed with architect Paolo Soleri. In 1972 he first learned silversmithing and spent the next 12 years working as a jeweler with French jeweler Pierre Touraine.
Larry became the first Native American to study at the Gemological Institute of America.
