About the Artist
First creating stone sculpture in 1974, Fragua now works both in stone and in bronze castings. Cliff's mother is the prominent Jemez potter, Juanita Fragua.
His many awards include Best of Category at the Indian Arts and Crafts Association Show in Denver, Colorado (1997), First Award in Marble category at the SWAIA Annual Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico (1996) as well as the Wheelwright Museum Award for Excellence in Sculpture at the SWAIA Annual Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico (1995).
The public can view his sculptures at the Albuquerque International Airport. Recently he was commissioned to create a monumental sculpture that is on display in the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Named Artist of the Year for 2005 by the Indian Arts and Crafts Association, he won best of division at the 2005 Heard Museum Indian Show.
