About the Artist

Born in New York in 1928, Lebron lived in Puerto Rico in his early years, listening to stories told by fishermen and interpreting them as drawings on paper bags. Returning stateside, he attended New York’s High School of Music and Arts. He dropped out of school to join the Air Force, drawing cartoons for the camp newspaper, before being assigned to the animation department of the Air Force’s motion picture unit. Lebron again returned to New York, where he studied at the Arts Students’ League for five years. During an extensive stay in Spain, Lebron developed his painting technique, wherein he captures the overall impression of a scene by applying color with a palette knife. A permanent exhibit of his works depicting the hardships endured by the Donner Party is on display at the Donner Memorial State Park in California. Lebron currently lives in Santa Barbara, California with his wife Sandi, who is also a painter.
