About the Artist

"The habitat of these Indians was along the waters of the Columbia River, what is now in southeastern Oregon. These people produced several kinds of woven baskets, including a flexible type woven of Indian hemp and corn husk. Ornamentation was in false embroidery. They were peoples who were much in the saddle and their baskets were essentially pouches, both round and flat, usually flexible and of strong, durable workmanship, making them suitable for use in transport." The above was taken from Indian Baskets of the Northwest Coast by Allan Lobb.
