(Born 1933, Peru) A graduate of the National School of Fine Arts, Rivas was awarded a gold medal in 1959. From 1960 to 1967 he worked as a teacher in the Art Center. Between 1968 and 1995 he served as an instructor at the National School of Beaux Arts.
In 1997 Rivas was honored in Lima, Peru with a Retrospective covering the last 36 years of his career. Rivas participated in four different Sao Paulo Biennales between 1961 and 1981. His paintings have been exhibited over the years in New York, Madrid, Lima, Caracas, Milan, Berlin, Washington, D,C. and in Puerto Rico. His work is currently being sold through the Arte Peru Gallery. This gallery characterizes his work as "a partnership of feelings and colors".
