About the Artist
Phillip Long, a Navajo jeweler was active prior to 1960 into the 1970's. Son of Helen and Jimmie Long, Long's favorite designs were kachina and yei figures and eagle dancers. One of Phillip's kachina figures is illustrated on page 224 in Gregory Schaaf's American Indian Jewelry I. Other publications illustrating Long's work are: American Indian Art magazine August 1996, North American Indian Jewelry and Adornment by Lois Dubin (2000) and Indian Jewelery on the Market by Peter Schiffer (1996). Phillip Long's hallmark is a joined PL beside a horizontal arc with rays.
