About the Artist

Marvin Helper was born in the early 1950s in South Dakota. He has exhibited his paintings at the Red Cloud Indian Annual at Pine Ridge, where his work is in the collection of the Heritage Culture Center. His interests lie not only in art but also in music. He is a member of the Native American Music Association. Helper, a Lakotah medicine man, lent his presence and his voice to "Badlands" a recent release by country music recording artist Marty Stuart.
