About the Artist
A student of his father's, this Navajo silversmith is cited as the first to make leaf work in silver in Barton Wright's revised book Hallmarks of the Southwest. Dan subsequently taught students who were both family members such as his wife, son and brother, Ramone as well as non-family members Roy and Nelson Vandever.
The artist's hallmarks utilize the initials "DP" in block print with a bar below or at the side. Sometimes the initials were vertically stepped.
