About the Artist
These married Acoma artists often collaborate on ceramic slip-cast pottery. The pottery they create is poured into a mold instead of being formed on a wheel, and then it is decorated. After the piece sets, the artists etch designs into the side of the pottery. The designs differ based on the colors utilized, but they most often work with red, white, and black. They each enjoy rendering kachina figures, animals, and other natural black and white designs on the sides of their pottery. They are most noted for their work in ceramic jars and bowls.
The Romeros were awarded a 1st place prize for art at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque in 1997. They currently live together in New Mexico.
