About the Artist

Bruce Wynne's life was divided between his family, his art and tribal politics. Formerly Tribal Chairman on the Spokane reservation, Wynne worked in graphite, charcoal and acrylic painting, but was primarily thought of as a sculptor. His preferred stones were alabaster, granite and limestone. Wynne's art training began at the Institute of American Art in Santa Fe, graduating in 1964. In 1975 he earned his BFA in Fine Art from the University of Colorado in Boulder. At one time Bruce Wynne served as an exhibit designer at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. As a free-lance artist, his work was included in many exhibits in galleries and in museums nationwide. Southwest Art magazine featured Wynne's sculpture in its November 1978 issue.
