About the Artist

Frank Petek was born in Aurora, Minnesota in 1923. He attended grade school through high school in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a four-year program in fine and commercial art at Arizona School of Art In 1949, Frank Petek met Beverly Jane Fisher in Los Angeles. The couple married and settled in Phoenix. Beverly decided she would also pursue a career as an artist. She began painting and became known as Poko Petek. In 1963 Petek was awarded a Huntington Hartford Foundation Fellowship. He was represented by Mission Gallery in Taos, New Mexico; Rosenquist Gallery in Tucson, Arizona and the Stable Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Work by Frank Petek is in the collections of Senator Barry Goldwater, Valley National Bank, the Arizona State University Law Library, First National Band and the Scottsdale Community Theatre.
