About the Artist

One primary characteristic of a Moki-style blanket is the alternating stripes of blue and brown coupled with a cross motif. In the late 19th century J. L. Hubbell, trading post owner at Ganado, promoted the Germantown Moki Blanket, a revival of the Late Classic Period Moki style blanket. In recent years Navajo weavers have used variations on these designs in their weavings - hence a rebirth of this traditional pattern.
