About the Artist

Pletka is known for his depictions of Native American moods and tribal rituals. With painstaking care, he researches the costumes and strives for accuracy in his representations. This artist was born in San Diego, but grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado. His painting activities have early origins. He attended Arizona State University and Colorado State University. He served as an Artist-in-Residence and on the Board of Trustees at the Dulaney-Hunter Foundation in Washington, DC. He was employed as Curator of Exhibits at the Western Historical Museum in Grand Junction, Colorado. Pletka's solo exhibitions have been staged at: El Paso Museum of Art in Texas (1978), at the University of New Mexico Art Museum (1979), at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (1979) and at the Albuquerque Art Museum (1980). He is cited in Who's Who in American Art. His latest exhibition of paintings (1999) at the Yares Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico sold out.
