About the Artist

Ms. Brown graduated from California Institute of the Arts and has worked in Europe and in the United States on film. book and design projects. Currently she is working on illustrations for two books for children Tommy's Seashells by Julie Siderfin and Liquid Cat by Paula Terrey. With masterful draftsmanship she celebrates and reminds the viewer that animals and children can summon the innocence. honesty and joy that adults seem so frequently to forget. The scenarios for Brown's drawings began to develop in her childhood on a family farm in Southern Illinois. In conversations with her friends and family one hears of raccoons rescued and raised from infancy. incorporated into Sally's daily routine and later released; of a pet chicken whose perch of choice was the handlebars of Sally's moving bicycle; of Sally's delightful but keen skills of owl and frog song identification.
