About the Artist

"Bruno Caruso (Palermo, 1927 - Rome, 2018) was an Italian painter, draftsman, engraver, writer. His artworks are focused on the moral, political and ethical flaws of the 20th century. His attention was always focused on the ethical and civil aspects of man, from the hottest themes of his native land (Sicily) to the most global ones, such as war, mental hospitals, nature. Interested in the world of publishing, journalism and photography.  Over the course of his life he contributed to various Italian newspapers as well as with intellectual magazines, such as "Sicilia" in 1953.  

He knew and collaborated with famous artists at the national and international level, from Leonardo Sciascia to photographer Brassaï. Caruso received numerous awards over the years in Italy and abroad. In 2001 he was awarded the gold culture medal from the President of the Republic. The following year he received the Archimede Award for the most illustrious Sicilians in the world. The University of Palermo awarded him an honorary degree in Literature and Philosophy in 1986."

Caruso participated in the Venice Biennale, the Rome Quadriennale and the Biennale des Jeunes de Paris in 1959,
