He came to the United States in 1923 when he was 18 years old and later studied under John Sloan at the Art Students League in New York City. He held several reaching positions in his career, including an appointment as an Instructor in Advanced Painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He collected many monetary prizes and honorable mentions from 1944 to 1962; his work is represented in many galleries, museums and private collections.
