Maynard Navasie was born at First Mesa in 1945. He was the grandson of the first Frog Woman and the son of Joy Navasie. the second Frog Woman, from whom he learned his craft.
For many years he collaborated with his wife, Veronica Navasie, whom was taught by her mother, Laura Preston. They both were active potters since 1960. Until Maynard passed away in 2003,Veronica formed the pots and Maynard would sand, polish and paint the pots.
Mr. and Mrs. Navasie were cited in Hopi-Tewa Pottery 500 Biographies by Gregory Schaaf and in Fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery by Rick Dillingham.
