About the Artist
(1920-1989) Prior to having earned her Master of Fine Arts at Temple University, Barbara Whipple studied at Swarthmore College (G.A;, 1943), Rochester Institute of Technology (B.S., 1956) and Tyler School. She was a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Club; the Philadelphia Art Alliance; the Philadelphia Print Club.
Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Newark, NJ Public Library; Elizabethtown, PA College and the Lancaster, PA Country Day School.
Beyond her work as art art instructor in university and college settings, Whipple wrote an article addressing art for the child ages 6 to 9, as well as publications on artists such as Luigi Rist, William Sharer and Ford Ruthling.
