About the Artist

Born in 1925, Virginia is the daughter of famed potter Margaret Tafoya and the granddaughter of Sara Fina. When she first began making pottery, she did so at night, while working during the day as a highly skilled technician at Los Alamos Laboratory. In 1968 Ebelacker began making pottery full-time and instructing her two young sons, Richard and James, in the craft. Her sons are now established potters themselves and along with their mother, have passed the tradition on to the next generation. Virginia has shown and won awards at Indian Market in Santa Fe and the New Mexico State Fair. Her work has been featured in American Indian Art Magazine, Arizona Highways and Indian Artist.
