About the Artist

(Born 1940) Juanita C. Shije's pueblo connection is divided between Zia and Acoma. She was born at Acoma, but chooses to create pottery consistent with that found at Zia Pueblo, having married a gentleman from Zia. Known for her polychrome jars and bowls, her career as a potter began during the 1960's.
