About the Artist
Born in 1892, this sculptor obscured her gender identity by signing her sculpture "A.H. Sander". With work in the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, we are told she executed a pair of bookends titled "Indian Head" that were cast by Griffoul in Newark, New Jersey. Her address in 1948 was listed as Fort Worth, Texas. Information gained from Glenn Opitz's book
Dictionary of American Sculptors 18th Century to the Present (1984).
Mrs. Sander's first name was not revealed in Texas Painters, Sculptors and Graphic Artists
