About the Artist

(1886-1978)  "A professor of drawing and painting from 1925 to 1957 and Chairman of the Department (1926 to 1954), Jean Paul Slusser had a long career at the University of Michigan Architecture and and Urban Planning school. In addition he was a painter and writer, who lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He had earned an A.B. degree at the University of Michigan and also had attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, the Art Students League in New York City and the University of Munich in Germany. Among his teachers were Ben Shahn and Hans Hofmann.

Memberships included the Woodstock Art Association and American Association of Museums
