(Born 1959, Cree) The traditional lifestyle and attitudes of the elders from the Sandy Lake reserve shaped Fiddler's wish to communicate artistically. Mentored by Carl Ray, he chose to adapt their sacred legend histories to his form of expression.
In 1980 Fiddler was cited for his depiction of traditional native values and principles, receiving an achievement award from the Ontario All Chiefs Conference. His work has been exhibited in Toronto at the Thompson Gallery and at the Toronto Eaton Centre; in Winnipeg at the WAH-SA Gallery; in Ottawa at the Nicholas Art Gallery and in Montebello at the Chateau Montebello.
