(1940-2012) A native of Kansas, born in El Dorado, Carver's involvement with making drawings, paintings and handmade objects began in his early childhood. As a teenager he painted signs and pin-striped automobiles.
After attending Butler County Community College, he moved to Wichita, where he studied graphic design and studio art at Wichita State University. Carver chose to become a full time artist in 1972. He won numerous awards for his work, often producing a highly representational form of realism.
