(Born circa 1965, Jemez) BJ Fragua is the daughter of the excellent potter, Juanita Fragua, sister of Glendora Fragua and sculptor Clifford Fragua.
Betty Jean has been making pottery since 1980, her stone polished polychrome pottery is unique in its decoration. Sometimes BJ uses sgaffitto, other times several colors of slip enhance a vessel's exterior.
She has exhibited at Santa Fe's Indian Market since 1984 winning numerous awards. She is also cited in various books on pueblo pottery such as Berger & Schiffer's Contemporary Pueblo & Navajo Pottery as well as Hayes & Blom's book Southwestern Pottery Anasazi to Zuni (page 85).
