(1902-1986) A painter of desert and mountain landscapes, Wilton McCoy was born on his parent's cattle ranch in Kansas. He was interested in drawing from childhood forward. McCoy took classes in both architectural and in life drawing. Later he pursued sculpture, watercolor and oil painting.
After residing in Long Beach, California, McCoy moved to Palm Springs in 1947. He taught art there in Palm Springs at the Desert Art Center.
In particular he painted landscapes of the trees and desert around his home in Yucca Valley.
