About the Artist

Jane Baca (1919-2011) and Starr Tafoya (Born 1951). These two Santa Clara potters are mother and daughter. Jane was the sister of Pablita Velarde and Legoria Tafoya.

Baca first won an award at Indian Market in Santa Fe in 1979. Her work is included in the Heard Museum's collection.  Baca created animal figures in clay as well as more traditional vessels.
