About the Artist

(Born 1950, Jemez Pueblo) Geraldine's mother, Cecilia Loretto taught her daughter traditional techniques for making Jemez pottery.  This means digging clay, processing it, forming vessels using a coil method.  Finally she sands, paints and stone polishes her pottery before it is fired outdoors.

Sandia is cited in Gregory Schaafs, Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Artist Biographies and Hayes' Southwestern Pottery Anasazi to Zuni.
