(1850-1924) "Born in Pura, Italy in 1850, Alphonse Visconti was to become a talented painter of landscape and figurative subjects.
The artist's early years were spent traveling throughout Italy and Switzerland painting the dramatic vistas of the Alpine region. By about 1875, however, it appears he had settled in Belgium as a significant number of works, clearly of Belgian origin were painted in the ensuing years. It does seem, however that he took up French nationality and would later exhibit in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Francais.
Small detailed paintings of woodland scenes dotted with delicately painted figures make up the bulk of his oeuvre." Benezit Dictionary of Artists
