(Born 1928) Mr. Pootoogooluk is an Inupiaq sculptor from Shishmaref who finds what he needs to make sculpture by beachcoming for driftwood, bones and feathers. The carvings he makes usually measure thirteen to fifteen inches depicting hungers, fishermen or drummers. His tools are strictly homemade, for instance a sharp blade bound to its handle with seal hide. His subject matter stems from the artist's imagination.
