About the Artist

(Born 1954, Santa Clara) A potter since 1978, Suazo was trained by his mother Clara Suazo.

Suazo intentionally chose to combine traditional feather designs and bear paws with inlaid turquoise, coral, lapis and malachite stones, to distinguish his work from other potters from Santa Clara.

He was won awards in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1999 at various Indian markets.

The artist has been featured in the Hayes book on Southwestern Pottery Anasazi to Zuni as well as Gregory Schaaf's Pueblo Indian Pottery 750 Artist Biographies.
