About the Artist

(Born 1921) This San Ildefonso potter is reported to have been active from 1940 forward.  Florence's parents are Rosalie Simbola Aguilar and Jose Angeles Aguilar.  She is known for her black-on-black jars, bowls as well as for her weavings.  Florence participated in Santa Fe's Indian Market between 1977 and 1996.

Florence was a student of Maria Martinez, which influenced her preference to use traditional methods.  

Often Florence demonstrated her craft during the summer at Bandelier National Monument.
