About the Artist

American Indians originally migrating out of Canada to Northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Currently there are approximately 3,300 tribal members, mainly residing in Northern New Mexico.

"Jicarilla" translates from Spanish to little basket. Their baskets tend to resemble Western Apache baskets in materials and in coiling techniques, but often dyed fibers are incorporated into their designs.
